The Optimist

The Hoper of Far Flung Hopes and the Dreamer of Improbable Dreams

Keeping it dead simple - this is a Doctor Who opinion blog. Everything I post is my own opinion, you don't have to agree with it, and it does not necessarily reflect the actual opinions of anyone important. My aim is to suggest new and different ways of thinking about elements of Doctors Who, not to persuade you that my way is the only or best way of thinking about it

Why is Eleven So Childish?

Writer: Chrisrs123Chrisrs123

Eleven was the oldest Doctor who thought he was on his last regeneration - he just wanted to have fun and act like a child again one last time. It's clearly an act though, that dark ancient side of him comes out when he loses control or when there's no other choice. Ten's trying to be human and his emotions reflect that, Eleven embraces being an alien and when he loses it with people, it's terrifyingly unpredictable. The whole point of A Good Man Goes To War was how scared Eleven had made his enemies. Much like the 2nd Doctor from the classic series, Eleven likes to appear as if he's a child with no idea what's going on to hide the fact he's usually in complete control.
