The Optimist

The Hoper of Far Flung Hopes and the Dreamer of Improbable Dreams

Keeping it dead simple - this is a Doctor Who opinion blog. Everything I post is my own opinion, you don't have to agree with it, and it does not necessarily reflect the actual opinions of anyone important. My aim is to suggest new and different ways of thinking about elements of Doctors Who, not to persuade you that my way is the only or best way of thinking about it

Thoughts on Tzim Sha (Tim Shaw)

Writer: Chrisrs123Chrisrs123

I have mixed feelings about Tim Shaw. I feel, particularly with his name, he's a bit too silly to really give a good first impression of how seriously to take Chibnall-era villains. He worked as a one-off because his threat was only undermined as the episode went on, and in an introduction episode for a new Doctor and a new team of Companions, the villain shouldn't be a main focus point BUT his only real hope of returnability is as a comedic figure who's return just annoys the hero in the background rather than as a serious threat. Which is fine, but maybe not the villain to START with.

They almost managed to sell him as a credible threat in when he returned in The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos. But any threateningness Tim Shaw had managed to build up was entirely destroyed by being defeated by Graham shooting him in the foot.
